Dear praying friends, July 6, 2009
Another month has come and passed quickly, and we thank the Lord for the opportunities that He has given us to serve Him here in Kenya. We appreciate so much each person who prays for us and communicates with us. The mission field is very challenging, and we thank you so much for your prayers for us. This update will share current ministry progress as well as prayer requests.
Thanks so much to each who donated to the building at the Annex prison. Soon, the men will have their own place to study the Word of God. Hebrews 13:3 says “Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.” Thanks again so much for remembering the Annex prison.
Carrie and McKenna are doing well. We thank the Lord for McKenna and the progress we have seen with her. What an opportunity and blessing it is to be a parent. We ask that you would pray for us, that we would be the parents that God would have us to be. Please pray that we would be faithful to teach her the Word, as this is a big responsibility. 2 Timothy 3:15 says “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ”
The ministry in the village of Rafiki is also going well, and we thank the Lord for this. Many of them have a real desire to know the Scriptures and are asking very good questions. I believe they are seeing the profit of the Scriptures in their life. 2 Timothy 3:16 states “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” Please pray that those in Rafiki would continue to study the Word and see the many benefits it has in their life.
We are now past half of the course “Firm Foundations-From Creation to Christ.” We have learned much together, and recently have been studying the Ten Commandments, the plagues of Egypt, and many other important topics. Lord willing, at the end of the course, a preaching point will be established. Please continue to pray for this work, and the spiritual progress of those that come. Please also pray for the visiting in the Rafiki area, and announcing about the ministry, that others would come and attend faithfully.
In closing, in regards to us personally, please pray that we would be strong in the Lord, as there are many challenges. Those that immediately challenge us are homesickness and forms of culture shock, as well as language challenges. Please pray that the Lord would help us in each of these areas, as they are real challenges to missionary living. God bless each of you. We will keep you updated.
