Scripture at Sunrise 8.23.2010

“Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.  For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”  -Hebrews 4:11-12

In Numbers 13-14, the children of Israel showed their lack of trust and heart of unbelief.  They had seen God work in powerful ways, yet doubted His Word and His promises.  The Lord had promised to give them the land, but the people said send spies (human reasoning leads to unbelief).

The Lord had already told Moses everything about the land (Exodus 3:7-8, 6:6-9), but they sent spies anyway to see for themselves.

Caleb, one of the spies, saw exactly the same things other spies did and gave the same report.  He knew there were giants in the land, but he knew and trusted that God could overcome any obstacle.  (ch. 14:24- He followed the Lord with all his heart.)

When you’re faced with problems, do you place your problems between yourself and God or do you place God between yourself and your problems?

Trust God at His Word.
