Scripture at Sunrise 4.30.2012

Sunday Evening| Anthony Vance, Associate Pastor
The Doctrine of Salvation | Acts 2:41-47 | Sermon Audio

“So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.” -Acts 2:41

The Experience of Salvation
Intellect: proper Christology (who Christ is and what He’s done)
There are some things you MUST know to be saved. (vs. 22-24, 32-36)
> Emotions: profound conviction
Their hearts were pricked by the Word of God. (vs. 37)
> Will: powerful conversion
A changed mind leads to changed actions. What you formerly loved, you now loathe. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

The Expression of Salvation
> Baptism: a public confession, a personal testimony, and the first test of obedience (Romans 6:4-5), a picture
-not to get salvation, but because you’ve been saved

The Evidences of Salvation
> Steadfast convictions (vs. 42)
They love the Word!
> Simple compassions (vs. 44-46)
They are unselfish and giving. (1 John 3:17)
> Charismatic (vs. 38)
The Holy Spirit lives in them. They are Spirit-led, Spirit-filled, Spirit-swayed, and Spirit-influenced.
(Example of being charismatic: Paul & Silas in Acts 16:25)
> Wherever they were and whoever they were with, they bragged about Jesus.

Scripture at Sunrise 4.26.2012

“And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses…” -Colossians 2:13

You’re not an ugly duckling. You’re a dead duck raised to swan-ness in Christ. -Scotty Ward Smith via Twitter

Scripture at Sunrise 4.25.2012

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” -Jeremiah 29:11

Thank Him in advance for what the future holds, for He is already there. -Elisabeth Elliott

Scripture at Sunrise 4.24.2012

Bring ye all of the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. -Malachi 3:10

Many read and plead this promise without noticing the condition upon which the blessing is promised. We cannot expect heaven to be opened or blessing poured out unless we pay our dues unto the Lord our God and to His cause. There would be no lack of funds for holy purposes if all professing Christians paid their fair share.

Many are poor because they rob God. Many churches, also, miss the visitation of the Spirit because they starve their ministries. If there is no temporal meat for God’s servants, we need not wonder if their ministry has been little food in it for our souls. When missions pine for means and the work of the Lord is hindered by an empty treasury, how can we look for a large amount of soul-prosperity?

Come, come! What have I given of late? Have I been mean to my God? Have I stinted my Savior? This will never do. Let me give my Lord Jesus His tithe by helping the poor and aiding His work, and then l shall prove His power to bless me on a large scale.

Scripture at Sunrise 4.23.2012

Sunday Evening| Pastor Steve Wainright
Joshua 3-4 | Sermon Audio

For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red Sea, which He dried up for us until we passed over, so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, that you may fear the LORD your God forever.”  –Joshua 4:23-24

The children of Israel were instructed to not lose sight of the ark of the covenant, which is a type of Christ. They had to trust the Lord on both sides of the Jordan, keeping their eyes on the ark.

At the time of year the Israelites were crossing the Jordan, the river was raging and overflowing to be nearly a mile in width. Only God could accomplish such a feat of getting 2 million people clean across on DRY land. God will make a way when there seems to be no way.

Faith is strengthened when you look back at all God has brought you through. We’re so apt to forget how He has worked. Remember what God has done for you. Record how He’s worked in your life!
