Scripture at Sunrise 7.17.2014

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:6-7

Trials teach us what we are. They dig up the soil and let us see what we’re made of. -Charles H. Spurgeon via Twitter

Scripture at Sunrise 6.8.09

Sunday School | 1 Peter 1: 1-12 | Steve Dawson
“…to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in Heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”  -1 Peter 1:4-5
We are spiritual exiles (vs. 1) from our inheritance and being together with Christ (vs. 4).  We are exiled from where our heart truly is.

“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”  -1 Peter 1:6-7
Suffering puts HIM in perspective.  Jesus is revealed through suffering.

Sunday Morning | Colossians 3:15 | Steve Wainright
“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” -Colossians 3:15
-The peace of God comes from having peace with God.
-If you can’t change the place you’re in, you need to change your mind.
-“rule”=umpire, has final decision> Let the peace of God be the final say-so in your life.
How do we do that?
-Be thankful.  Don’t complain
-Bless Him for the mercies and the miseries.
-As we have thankful hearts, the peace of God rules in our hearts.

Sunday Evening | Exodus 33:1-11 | Steve Wainright
“Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”  -Exodus 33:3
God promised His blessing, but not His presence.  His presence brings accountability.
-What do you want more of: God’s blessings or God Himself?
-Do you desire the Blesser more than the blessings?
>Get a CD if there is one…I can’t summarize it well enough!<
