Scripture at Sunrise 11.16.09

Sunday School | 3 John | Bro. Steve Dawson
“Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.”  -3 John 1:11
-Follow the example of Gaius shown in vs. 1-8, who walked in the truth and love John taught.  Don’t follow the example of Diotrephes in vs. 9-10.

Morning Worship | 1 Corinthians 4:1-13 | Pastor Steve Wainright
“We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute.  To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things.”  -1 Corinthians 4:10-13
The biggest problem in the Corinthian church: prIde.  The answer to pride is humility.  How do we get humility?  Get before Almighty God.  Stand before His holiness, which is a humbling effect.  When you get before Him, you submit to His Word.

Evening Worship | Leviticus 8:1-9 | Pastor Steve Wainright
“And because of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption.”  -1 Corinthians 1:30
This chapter coincides with Exodus 28 and shows the wardrobe of the High Priest.  Each piece is representative of Christ, our High Priest.  We learned that the coat represents Christ’s righteousness, the girdle represents a readiness to serve, the robe represents a right standing with God and fruitfulness, and the onyx stones on the ephod shows that the Lord carries His people close to His heart.  The urim and thummim remind us that the Lord guides us by His Spirit through His Word.  The breastplate reminds us that we are accepted and that the Lord keeps us.  The turban represents holiness unto the Lord.

God works in His people to make them beautiful for His glory!  (Ezekiel 16:8, Psalm 149:4, Isaiah 61:1-3)

Our High Priest is Jesus Christ!  Hebrews 3:1, 4:14-15, 5:10; 6:19; 7:26; 8:1; 9:24-28; 10:19-22
