Dear Friends and Family,We returned from TN yesterday afternoon after having a wonderful weekend with family. The anniversary celebration was beautiful. Sheridan’s younger sister, Nancy, had done a great job decorating and preparing for it. She was blessed to have many friends help her also. The evening was a nice tribute and honor to his parents for 60 years of marriage.
On Sunday, after church, we all met at a nearby community center and celebrated Mrs. Stanton’s 80th birthday. It was a relaxed picnic style lunch with good fellowship. After finishing there, the family went back to the Stanton’s house and just “hung out”. Our nephew and his wife from FL were BRAVE to make the drive with an 3 year old and a set of 6 month twins. All are girls, and we had not seen Sarah, the oldest since she was a baby, and of course it was the first time to meet the twins. We had such a fun time with them all.
Our niece Emily lives close by and it was good to have time with her, (when she could tear herself away from the new boyfriend!!! 🙂 🙂 No, we did have quality time with her too. Her sister, Bethany was also there with her husband and 5 year old son Brison. Brison entertained us as any 5 year old will! Bethany just found out today that the baby she is expecting in November is a boy.
It was great to see Sheridan’s older brother, Ralph, his wife Sheila, their daughter Holly, son-in-law Gene and grandson Bradley. We had not seen them in a long time. Bradley is proving to be a great guitarist and shared with us. Also with them was their son Jon, his wife Michaela and their precious little boy Ty. It was a real treat to see all this family.
Sheridan’s older sister Linda, and her husband Tony were there Friday and Saturday with us, but had to leave to return to FL for doctor appointments scheduled for Tuesday. The time we did have was great.
Leah, John and Jack were able to drive to Lexington and then make the rest of the trip with us. Jack kept us laughing and did great for a 17 month old in the car. Of course, it was good to spend the time with them also. I must brag a bit as a Mom. Saturday night Leah sang a solo for her Grandparents and did a FANTASTIC job. She has a beautiful voice and I had not heard her sing in a long time. It was a good thing that I heard her rehearsing Saturday morning because I got my cry out then! She really touched a lot of hearts with her song. Once again, “good job, Leah!”
I had my fifth chemo today. Only ONE to go!!!!!! As usual, I am doing okay now. The worse of the effects usually set in about the third day after treatment. So, you can pray, but pray harder starting Thursday! 🙂 We are hoping that the diverticulitis was what took my appetite the entire time after the fourth chemo. I am still on the antibiotics until this coming Sunday, but the side effects of them are much improved. The pain has subsided so we know they are working.
I am praying that the depression will not be as bad this time around. These drugs are powerful, working on every part of the body from the brain to the toes. I will take all the advise of the oncology dietian this time and do my best to keep the protein and calcium levels up so not as to provoke more fatigue. At least, I am aware that all these effects are the drugs and praise the Lord, the treatments will soon be over and the drugs can begin to be cleared from my entire body. All reports are encouraging.
I will have a genetic study done on Monday, June 30. We are praying for that in the sense that it will not show need to do the hormone therapy which requires infusions once a week for a year. I REALLY would like to think I was going home after the first of the year. I still know and firmly believe God is in control of the entire situation and my body, and He will let me go home when He deems is time. Until then, I have to learn to be content with you guys!!! 🙂
Well, I probably won’t be back on the computer for a few days, just wanted to let you know that all is as well as possible. I have my wonderful, faithful “nurse” at my side who is always looking out for me. How blessed I am!
Thank you for praying for him also. I know it is hard on him but he never complains, just keeps looking for ways to cheer me us and make life easier. Thanks too for all your prayers, cards, emails and other gestures of love to us both.
We are truly blessed with wonderful friends and family.
Love,
Anita
