Scripture at Sunrise 3.7.2018

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” -Romans 12:1-2

A heart of love motivates service more than fear. God wants a living sacrifice–your life, your being, who you are. -excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Sunday Morning Sermon

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” -John 13:34-35

“All life-changing love is inconvenient because it requires time and commitment.” -Tim Keller via Twitter

Scripture at Sunrise 1.28.2013

Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” –Luke 9:62

To plow straight, you must look straight ahead. The call of God on your life must be preeminent. You must be looking to Jesus and stop living in the past. Go forward.

Luke 5:1-11 | Sermon Audio

But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” -Luke 5:8

When Peter saw Jesus’ power on display in Luke 5, He recognized his sinfulness and felt unworthy of His presence.

By John 21, Peter has grown in grace. This time when he says Jesus’ power on display, He wants to get closer to the Lord.

That is God’s mercy at work. When you realize you’ve been forgiven much, you will have a greater love for the Lord and be a diligent servant. The more you walk with Him, the closer you’re drawn to Him.

GOSPEL CONFIDENCE: The ground of your salvation is not found in your commitment to God, but in God’s commitment to you.  -David Platt, via his Twitter
