Scripture after Sunset 03.15.2021

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” -Hebrews 13:5-6

When you complain and grumble about your circumstances, you are calling into question the love of God and His goodness in your life.

Contentment in life is only found in the Lord. He alone can satisfy your needs and your longings.

-Pastor Steve Wainright (excerpts from Sunday Morning Sermon “The Danger of Complainingfrom Hebrews 13:5-6)

Scripture at Sunrise 7.1.2020

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” -Hebrews 13:5

“Satan loves to fish in the troubled waters of a discontented heart.” – Thomas Watson

Scripture at Sunrise 5.22.2019

“…for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” -Philippians 4:11-13

The secret is Christ in me, not me in a different set of circumstances. -Elisabeth Elliot

Scripture at Sunrise 3.18.2019

6But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.” -1 Timothy 6:6-10

You fall into sin when your soul is not satisfied in God. –excerpt from Pastor Steve Wainright’s Sunday Morning Sermon

Scripture at Sunrise 3.6.2019

“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.” -Philippians 4:11

If you’re discontent now, different circumstances will not solve your discontent but just give you fresh reason to not be content. It’s not your circumstances but your heart that needs to change. Not where you are, but who you are. Not your outside but your inside. -Dane Ortlund via Twitter

“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. You will never be content in this life unless you acknowledge the providence of God and His sovereignty. Contentment comes from the Lord, not from physical things.
