Scripture at Sunrise 3.4.2010

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?  Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.  But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”  -Luke 6:46-49

It’s not enough to have your life in close proximity to the Rock or others built on deep foundation.  The deep, firm foundation must be laid in your life when floods come.

Scripture at Sunrise 2.19.09

“…’My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”  -2 Corinthians 12:9

“If you have shallow sorrows you will receive shallow graces. If you have deep afflictions you will obtain deeper proof of God’s faithfulness.” —Spurgeon, Beside Still Waters.
