Scripture at Sunrise 1.11.2017

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” -Romans 5:1-2
Your relationship with God is either one of enmity or one of peace. It all depends on what your relationship is with Christ. -Steve Wainright, Sunday Morning Sermon on Romans 5:1-2

Sunday Morning | Pastor Steve Wainright | Matthew 26:26-28
But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed. -Isaiah 53:5

Christ’s suffering was not for Himself. Our Lord suffered because of our sins. Christ was made a curse for you and for me. It was because of  sin that He want to the cross.

Our sin is the source of enmity with God. God’s Word shows us how exceedingly sinful sin is and we must see that, lest we start tolerating and condoning sin. When you sin, think, “That’s what drove Christ to the cross.”
