Sunday School by Steve Dawson
“For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach His statutes and rules in Israel.” -Ezra 7:10
*Before the journey, Ezra prepared his heart. *God always makes resources available to accomplish His will. *Faithfulness to the Word of God is blessed. *A love for the Word of God was passed on from generation to generation despite all that was going on.
Sunday Morning by Pastor Steve Wainright
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” -Colossians 2:6-7
*received- embraced, accepted Him for all that He is
*Christ Jesus the Lord- Christ>Messiah, Promised One; Jesus>Humanity, God in the flesh; Lord>Sovereign, Master; Lordship Salvation=Savior AND King of my life
*walk in Him
*rooted- goes down, grips, brings forth certain things (Luke 8:1-15, 1 Peter 1:23); the deeper the roots go, the more solid the tree stands (Psalm 1; James 1:2); roots should go deep in Christ; Change will come, but the roots will never change.
*…as…, so walk…- received by faith, therefore walk by faith (Galatians 3)
*built up- continual (Philippians 1:6, Hebrews 13:5); He’s always building us up even if we do not realize it
*abounding in thanksgiving- abounding=superlative=MEGA! Response to discouragement: thanksgiving (Psalm 119:81- strength and hope is in the the Word of God)
Sunday Evening by Pastor Steve Wainright
“Let my prayer be counted as incense before You, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!” -Psalm 141:2
(Exodus 30)
Altar of Incense symbolized prayer. Atonement had to be made. Our prayers are cleansed through the blood of Jesus Christ. So let us come boldly before the throne!
(There’s so much here, I’m having difficulty summarizing it. Get a CD! :))
