The Calling of Nathanael [audio]| John 1:43-51 | Anthony Vance
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” -John 1:45-46

God used a mixture of means to draw Nathanael to faith in Christ, including an immature witness by Philip. God has drawn many a straight line with crooked sticks!

“The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, ‘Follow Me.’ Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.” -John 1:43-44

Who’s your Philip? And will you take him to the throne of grace, knowing that Philip’s only hope is Jesus? And will you ask Jesus to go find Philip–to call him and make him His own? -Anthony Vance

Sunday Evening Sermon Audio: He Brought Him to Jesus | John 1:40-42 | Pastor Anthony Vance
“He brought him to Jesus.” -John 1:42

Andrew demonstrated the priority of genuine discipleship and started with his family. He introduced his brother Peter to Jesus. Peter became a more prominent, public figure, but Andrew–through his private testimony–was used to bring him to Christ.

We may never be a Peter, but may we always be an Andrew!

Sunday Evening | The Right Ambition of a Faithful Witness | John 1:35-42 | Pastor Anthony Vance
The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. -John 1:35-37

We are mistaken if we thing our goal is only to witness to sinners. Our ambition when we share the Gospel is for God to save sinners.

Sunday Morning | Bro. Sherl Thomas | Lessons from a Miracle | Luke 5:1-11
And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at Your word I will let down the nets.” And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. Luke 5:5-6

These disciples didn’t put these fish in the net. God put them there! Just be faithful in launching out your net.

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” -Romans 10:14-15

Sunday Evening | Pastor Steve Wainright | That the World May Know | 1 Kings 8:12-66
“…that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God; there is no other.” -1 Kings 8:60

The purpose of our existence is to make God known–to make Him famous, that all the world may know that the Lord is God.

May our lives show forth the joy of the Lord that is our strength, that all the world may know that He is God.

Sunday Morning | Pastor Steve Wainright | What are you chained to?Philippians 1:12-14
” I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.” -Philippians 1:12-14

Paul had plans to go to Rome and advance the Gospel, but God had a better plan for how it should spread. Paul was constantly chained to an imperial guard for two years, each of whom he had the opportunity to share Christ with. The Gospel infiltrated Caesar’s household one soul at a time and other believers were encouraged by Paul’s boldness to also share. God puts you right where you are for the purpose of glorifying His Name. What are you chained to?
