And He said to all, “If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me. -Luke 9:23
The call of the cross demands that we deny ourselves daily, that we die to ourselves daily–die to our flesh and the desires of our flesh. –excerpt from Pastor Steve Wainright’s Sunday Evening Sermon
“And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.” -John 19:12
You either believe the truth or you are an enemy of truth. There is no middle ground. –excerpt from Pastor Steve Wainright’s Sunday Evening Sermon
Sunday Morning |Pastor Steve Wainright | Luke 5:17-26
“But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed—’I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.'” -Luke 5:24
The friends of the paralytic showed such great love for him that they did whatever it took to get him help, even if it meant cutting a hole in a roof and lowering him down. They deeply cared for him. How much are you willing to sacrifice to get a friend to Christ? (God cares, too. He cares so much that He sent His only Son for us. Christ cared so much that He willingly went to the cross.) Are you loving like that? Are you caring like that?
Before healing the paralyzed man, Jesus dealt with the man’s most serious problem first: his spiritual condition. He healed the man to confirm that He had power to forgive sins. The doubly healed man went home glorifying God on his way. Does your life show that your sins have been forgiven?
