Scripture at Sunrise 12.24.2015

“For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross.” -Colossians 1:19-20

In His deity, Jesus is able to endure God’s wrath due sin. In His humanity, Jesus is able to extend God’s mercy to sinners. -David Platt via Twitter

“For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross.” -Colossians 1:19-20

Jesus was God and man in one person, that God and man might be happy together again. —George Whitefield

Scripture at Sunrise 5.7.2014

For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh. –Romans 8:3

Man must answer for the sin of Man but no man is sinless enough to do it. So you see the problem the Incarnation solves. -Jared C. Wilson via Twitter

Scripture at Sunrise 12.21.2011

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” -Hebrews 4:15

“So the truth of the Incarnation is not just good theology; it is practical comfort and assurance. Jesus identifies with us in our humanity, and now we know that God is for us in Christ. He can be trusted. He went through torture too. When we see Jesus on the cross we can come to trust God with an unutterable trust that never for a moment considers He will not stand by us in our sufferings.” -Os Guinness

Scripture at Sunrise 12.19.2011

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” -Hebrews 4:15

When a weak chord is struck in the instrument of our human flesh, that weakness sympathetically resonates with our High Priest. He feels our infirmities. He has unequaled sympathy. He cares.

Scripture at Sunrise 12.5.2011

“And she gave birth to her firstborn son…” -Luke 2:7

Remaining what He was, He became what He was not. In the incarnation, we see grace coming down to man. He came down to a smelly stable in a world of smelly sinners to save.

Scripture at Sunrise 6.27.2011

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty might become rich.” -2 Corinthians 8:9

You know His grace, so reflect His grace to the world. Though He was rich, clothed in limitless splendor and majesty, He came to the world. For YOUR sake. For you. A sinner. God becoming man. He who was omnipotent took on human weakness. He who was wisdom grew in wisdom. The same God being worshiped in Isaiah 6 took on human flesh in Isaiah 53. For you. He took on the flesh of sinful man that you might become rich.

Prove the sincerity of your love for Christ and for others by giving.
