“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” -Matthew 24:35
God’s Word does not change, but it does change hearts and lives.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” -Romans 8:28
If you really believe the sovereignty of God, you have no room for complaint.
“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.” -1 Peter 4:7
When you become aware of Jesus Christ and that His coming is imminent, it affects your whole life. Live in the light of His imminent return. It can happen at any moment.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” -Isaiah 55:8-9
God does what is best. Therefore, we walk by faith and not by answers that give us understanding.
“For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit…” -1 Peter 3:17-18
Have you ever suffered for doing something good and then have somebody fuss at you or curse at you or complain about you, and you’ve made this comment: “I don’t deserve this”? Have you ever felt like you don’t deserve certain suffering? We deserve so much more.
We sing, “I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene and wonder how He could love me, a sinner condemned unclean.”
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” -1 Corinthians 15:1-4
“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” -1 Peter 3:4
“…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in his death…” -Philippians 3:10
“To share the Gospel effectively, the Gospel needs to be ever-present in our heart. Speak the Gospel at home. It needs to be so intertwined with our soul that we can’t live or breathe without it…” -Judson Hatcher, 3rd generation church planter & missionary to Brazil (excerpts from Sunday Morning Sermon “Perseverance Revolution” from Philippians 3:7-21)
“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” -1 Peter 1:22-25
“Choose to love one another fervently from a pure heart, not like the world loves (loving that you might gain), but seeking what is best for the other person.” -Pastor Steve Wainright (excerpt from Sunday Morning Sermon from 1 Peter 1:22-25)
“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” -1 Peter 1:13-16
“If you are going to live a life of holiness, it starts with your mind. It does not start with what you do, but who you are.” -Pastor Steve Wainright (excerpt from Sunday Morning Sermon from 1 Peter 1:13-16)
