Scripture at Sunrise 6.29.2011

“…The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” -2 Corinthians 5:17

“Salvation is not just ‘fire insurance’ or ‘sin management.’ The gospel promises far more than going to heaven when you die. It is an all-encompassing pledge from God for the total renewal of creation. It involves the resurrection of our bodies and the liberation of the whole creation from  its bondage to sin and death. What insurance plan, global market, or government agency can claim this kind of authority over life and death? When he returns, Jesus will judge every person and nation and consummate his kingdom in everlasting righteousness and peace. We cannot limit salvation to our private world of the soul; the whole cosmos was created by the Father, in the Son, through the Spirit, and it is upheld and finally redeemed in the same way.” -Michael Horton, via Of First Importance

Scripture at Sunrise 12.9.09

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”  -2 Corinthians 5:17

“Some think of the gospel as so slender it does nothing more than get us into the kingdom. After that the real work of transformation begins. But a biblically-faithful understanding of the gospel shows that gospel to be rich, powerful, the wisdom of God and the power of God, all we need in Christ. It is the gospel that saves us, transforms us, conforms us to Christ, prepares us for the new heaven and the new earth, establishes our relations with fellow-believers, teaches us how to work and serve so as to bring glory to God, calls forth and edifies the church, and so forth. This gospel saves — and ’salvation’ means more than just ‘getting in,’ but transformed wholeness.”

Is that my head on the header?!

Your head may have made it onto our current header. No, your computer has not turned into a mirror! I’m planning on rotating the picture at the top of the blog to make it a little bit more personal…the springy one that I took back in April was good for back in April, but fall is in the air and I thought we needed an update! :o)

Let me know what you think! Do you have any other suggestions for the blog?!

1 Corinthians 10:31

So my previous post, “All Creatures Great and Small” inspired a whole new blog centered around one idea: how to glorify God even in the little things.  I hope this will help you be more aware of the command found in 1 Corinthians 10:31!  Check it out here: http://firstcorinthians1031.wordpress.com/

Thanks for just being you!  :o)
