“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” -Psalm 16:11

“Most people, if they have really learned to look into their own hearts, would know that they do want, and want acutely, something that cannot be had in this world. There are all sorts of things in this world that offer to give it to you, but they never quite keep their promise.” -C.S. Lewis

Scripture at Sunrise 6.5.2013

You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. -Psalm 16:11

If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased. -C.S. Lewis in The Weight of Glory

Teach me that if I do not live a life that satisfies Thee, I shall not have a life that satisfies myself. -Unknown in The Valley of Vision

Scripture at Sunrise 2.3.10

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”  -Psalm 16:11

“Joy: deep, durable delight in the splendor of God that ruins you for anything else.”
