Scripture at Sunrise 1.25.10

Sunday School | Psalm 25:1-22 | Bro. Steve Dawson
“Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.”  -Psalm 25:4

When asked how the Lord teaches us, various youth at NLBC answered, “Through His Word, discipline, people you meet, more mature Christians, problems and suffering.”  When David asked the Lord to teach him in vs. 4, he wanted the Lord to bring these things into his life if they made him know Christ better.  Why did David want the Lord to do all this?  For His glory!  (vs. 11)

Morning Worship | 1 Corinthians 7:10-16 | Pastor Steve Wainright
“…God has called you to peace.”  -1 Corinthians 7:15

vs. 10-11- Charge to married Christians // vs. 12-16- Charge to believers married to an unbelievers
*#1 Problem in Marriages: “I.”  Change yourself and line yourself up with God’s Word.
*Are you single?  Don’t date an unbeliever.  Set your standards high.
*A spouse’s faith cannot save their unbelieving spouse.  It takes the power of God, but God can use you as an influence in their life.
*The unbelieving spouse does not defile the believer, rather because of the believer, the home and marriage will be blessed.  (Genesis 30, Genesis 39, 1 Timothy 1)
*Tips for Living in Marriage with an Unbeliever:
-Don’t nag.  (Romans 12:18)  -Be patient.  -Be kind.  -Be prayerful.  -Don’t expect them to live like a child of God because they’re not one.  -Make your home a little piece of Heaven on earth because that may be all the Heaven they experience.  -Win them with your life.  (1 Peter 3)

Evening Worship | Leviticus 17:1-16 | Pastor Steve Wainright
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”  -Galatians 1:3-5
*This begins the second half of the book of Leviticus, which deals with holiness in God’s people (God’s children communing with the Lord and reflecting His glory).
*vs. 1-9- God alone is worthy of our worship (Exodus 20:3-6)
*Ultimately, God is the Giver of all life.  Honor God by honoring life.
*Christ gave His life as a gift for us!  (Galatians 1:4, 1 John)
*Blood was given for atonement.  Are we honoring that life?
