“I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.” -Psalm 3:5
“God gives us sleep to remind us we aren’t Him.” – Charles Spurgeon
So I’ve never done this before, but I’m going to share a little blurb from my journal that my friend Ashley got me for my birthday. It is a unique journal because every other page contains three passages from Psalms followed by a place to reflect on a topic presented in the verses! I love it! Even though my major is journalism, I don’t really sit down to write too often, but when I do, I really enjoy it and I learn more. Like Abraham Lincoln, I write to find out! Don’t expect anything profound, but the Lord laid it on my heart to share with you what He has been making me meditate on lately!
[This is from my January 11 entry on “Delight in the Lord”]
When my delight is in the Lord, my will lines up with His, therefore our desires coincide and He gives me the desires of my heart.
When my delight is in the Lord, I realize no one can compare to Him and learn He is my Protector and Provider.
When my delight is in the Lord, I can praise Him at all times, realizing every situation in my life -whether good or bad- is working for my good and His glory.
“I will not boast in anything: no gifts, no power, no wisdom; but I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection! Why should I can from His reward? I cannot give an answer…” (from “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us” by Stuart Townend)
