Scripture after Sunrise 1.20.2020

“For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.” -Philemon 7

Do people sense the goodness and greatness and presence of God when you come around? Does your life bring joy and comfort to other people’s lives? Does it bring consolation (rest) to others? Only through Christ can this happen.

-Steve Wainright (excerpts from Sunday morning sermon from Philemon 4-7 — A Christian Refresher)

Scripture at Sunrise 11.1.2010

“Now I urge you, brothers —you know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints— be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer.  I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence, for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. Give recognition to such men.”  -1 Corinthians 16:14-18

-The household of Stephanas loved the Lord so much that they became addicted to the service of the saints.
-When you serve, it’s a labor of love.  (Hebrews 6:10)
-Addictions become an overpowering desire.  They could not get enough of serving others.  If you take a vacation, may you have withdrawal symptoms from the ministry.  That’s what love does.
-Service is not a status, but should be the basis of honor at NLBC.  (Mark 10:44)
-Be known as a refresher!  Be positive and encouraging.
