Scripture at Sunset 5.22.2017

Sunday Morning | The Relation of the Law to Sin | Romans 7:6-13 | Steve Wainright
“What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, ‘You shall not covet.'” -Romans 7:7

You don’t realize how sinful you are until the law comes in and exposes your sin. The law is not the problem, your sin is. The law is there to show you your sin and your need for a Savior. -excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Morning Sermon

Scripture at Sunrise 5.17.2017

Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to Him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.” -Romans 7:4
Christ died the death that the law demanded. By His death, we are dead to the law. We are saved and united to Christ to bring forth fruit for God. -excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Sunday Morning Sermon

Scripture at Sunset 5.15.2017

Sunday Evening |  Responses to the Feeding of the 5000 | John 6:14-15 | Anthony Vance
When the people saw the sign that He had done, they said, ‘This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!’ Perceiving then that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by Himself.” -John 6:14-15

This multitude had a wrong understanding of who Jesus was and what His mission was. They wanted to be delivered from the Roman government. Their greatest need was not for deliverance from Rome, but deliverance from Satan, sin, and death. -excerpt from Anthony Vance’s Evening Sermon

Sunday Evening – Philip’s Test | John 6:5-9 (Anthony Vance)
Lifting up His eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward Him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” He said this to test him, for He himself knew what He would do. -John 6:5-6

Philip’s test is a test for us also. God doesn’t design tests to expand His knowledge, but for our growth and understanding. He was testing Philip’s understanding and faith. The test reveals our understanding and faith in the Master who is at work in our lives.

Sunday Evening – Rest and RealityJohn 6:1-3 (Anthony Vance)
“Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with His disciples.” -John 6:3

The ministry you give flows only out of your own communion with the Lord. Worry about (care for) your own soul so that you can care for other souls. We must be strengthened to serve others.
