Scripture at Sunrise 9.10.2012

Sunday Morning| Pastor Steve Wainright
Listen to Morning Audio: “What did you come here for?” | Luke 7:24-35

When John’s messengers had gone, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? Luke 7:24

The same question Jesus asked this crowd could be asked of us today: What did you come here for this morning? Hopefully it was to hear the Word of God proclaimed. God reveals Himself through His Word!

Link of the Week

Scripture at Sunrise 9.3.2012

Sunday Morning| Pastor Steve Wainright
Listen to Morning Audio: “Doubts” | Luke 7:18-23

“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” -Habakkuk 3:17-18

Adverse situations often bring doubts because we lose sight of the bigger picture–that God is sovereign and in control, working all things together for our good.

The best way to get doubts resolved? Go to God’s Word!

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in His flesh the dividing wall of hostility.” -Ephesians 2:14

Since Christ is our peace, we can pursue peace with others. Seek peace by talking it out and listening. Don’t ever assume what someone else is thinking or their motives.

Link of the Week
The Bob Brown House has had a really rough week. In addition to losing two employees, many items were stolen from their garage, including all of their tools and lawn equipment. The overnight staff apartment also needs a lot of renovations before someone can move in. How can you help? The biggie is donations—since they receive no federal or state funds, they rely solely on the small rents from each resident and generous gifts. Every little bit helps. (You can easily donate online via PayPal at www.bobbrownhouse.com.)

Additionally, if you have a good lawnmower or tools or know anyone interested in the overnight position which includes free rent, let us know. Most importanly, please pray that God will work all this together for the good of the home and for His glory, and that He will continue to provide for our needs—and we know He will be faithful to do so. Thank you!

Scripture at Sunrise 8.6.2012

Sunday Evening | Pastor Steve Wainright | Luke 6:43-45 | Listen
“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” -Luke 6:43-45

A bad tree can’t just decide to start producing good fruit. There must be an inward change. You must be born again! The root produces the fruit.

What you talk about the most is what you treasure the most. So, what consistently comes out of your mouth?
