“He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; he will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.” -Job 33:27-28

This is a word of truth, gathered from the experience of a man of God, and it is tantamount to a promise. What the Lord has done, and is doing, He will continue to do while the world standeth. The Lord will receive into His bosom all who come to Him with a sincere confession of their sin; in fact, He is always on the lookout to discover any that are in trouble because of their faults.

Can we not endorse the language here used? Have we not sinned, sinned personally so as to say, “I have sinned”? Sinned willfully, having perverted that which is right? Sinned so as to discover that there is no profit in it but an eternal loss? Let us, then, go to God with this honest acknowledgment. He asks no more. We can do no less.

Let us plead His promise in the name of Jesus. He will deliver us from the pit of hell which yawns for us; He will grant us life and light. Why should we despair? Why should we even doubt? The Lord does not mock humble souls. He means what He says. The guilty can be forgiven. Those who deserve execution can receive free pardon. Lord, we confess, and we pray Thee to forgive!

Sunday Morning Sermon Audio – Overabounding Grace | Romans 5:12-21 (Steve Wainright)
“Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” -Romans 5:20-21

The law causes sin to increase. The law cannot change a person’s heart. The law shines the light on your disobedience. Sin might bring pleasure for a season, but what sin is actually doing is working death in you.
The grace of God is greater than all our sin. Where sin was overflowing, grace overflowed exceedingly above and beyond. If you believe He died for your sins, there should be nothing in your past that can haunt you. It’s not about where you’ve been, but where you’re at.

Scripture at Sunrise 8.24.2016

“All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” -Romans 3:12
Sin has deeply affected every human being on the face of this earth with no exceptions. All have turned aside, all want to do their own thing. Even the “good” we do in life is still tainted with sin. No one does good, not even one. The good news is that God does not call the righteous to repentance, but the sinner. –excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Sunday Morning Sermon

Luke 5:12-16 | Sermon Audio

While He was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged Him, “Lord, if You will, You can make me clean.” Luke 5:12

This man full of leprosy is the perfect illustration of us as sinners.

“The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but bruises and sores and raw wounds; they are not pressed out or bound up or softened with oil.” [Isaiah 1:5-6]

This man who had no hope realized that his only hope is in Christ. He humbled himself, fell down, and worshipped at Jesus’ feet, acknowledging that Jesus had the power to heal him, but asked for His mercy so he could be cleansed.

Jesus had the power and compassion. There is no one beyond hope when Jesus is involved. He restored parts that had disappeared and He does the same thing in salvation. When we were dead in sins, He made us alive…with life to the FULL!

The leprous man who had been healed couldn’t keep it in. He was disobedient to Christ’s command to be silent about the miracle. But we are called to blab about what Jesus has done! Blaze abroad the Gospel! Catch his fever!

Scripture at Sunrise 09.09.09

“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in Hhim, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—”  -Philippians 3:8-9

The Pharisee’s prayer: “Give me what I’ve earned.” The sinner’s prayer: “Give me what You’ve earned.”
