“Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.” -Hebrews 12:14

We do not pray for a life set apart from suffering, we pray for a life set apart from sinning.

“We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.” – Numbers 11:5

Sin wants you to forget how much it costs.

“We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost us nothing.” – Num. 11:5

The Israelites longed to go back to Egypt because they looked on their former slavery with rose-colored glasses.

Sin assures you that its pain was worth its pleasure.

Scripture at Sunrise 12.9.2019

“And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.” -Hosea 13:2

Once sin starts, it starts swelling. It is serious and is not something to dabble in. If you start getting into sin just a little bit, it will wrap around you tighter and tighter until you are bound. However, God’s Word offers hope. He is your Help.

-Steve Wainright (excerpt from Wednesday night’s sermon from Hosea 13: Sin Will Swell)

Scripture at Sunrise 5.31.2017

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” -Galatians 6:7-8
God’s Word gets blunt to show us how sinful sin is. When you prostitute yourself out to sin, it becomes your master and controls your life. False promises soon fade.
Sexual gratification lasts only for a moment, but leads to death, disease, and broken relationships. Sinning ultimately says that you’re not satisfied with God. -excerpts from Steve Wainright’s Wednesday Evening Sermon
