Scripture at Sunrise 3.9.2020

“…you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” -1 Peter 2:5

Every stone was cut and fitted before it was even placed in the Temple. We are living stones. Before you even knew Christ, God was chiseling you, shaping you to fit into His body. Just as God used David to influence King Hiram of Tyre, He uses people to help form and construct your life, to shape who you are and be fitted for service.

Scripture after Sunrise 2.24.2020

“And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the LORD, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.” -2 Chronicles 1:6

Solomon sought to worship God and had a choice of where he would do so. You also have a choice of where to go worship. How do you choose? Go where the Lord is and where He meets you. Make sure the Word is central. Go to a church that loves the Lord, loves people (both saints and lost), and seeks after God.

Scripture after Sunrise 2.10.2020

Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the LORD God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished. -1 Chronicles 28:20

If you are fully aware of the Lord’s presence with you, you can be strong and of good courage.

Scripture not-quite-at Sunrise 7.20.2015

Sunday Evening | Pastor Steve Wainright | The Demise of Solomon  | 1 Kings 11
“Teach me Your way, O LORD, that I may walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your Name.” -Psalm 86:11

Everything had been going great for King Solomon, but he loved many women who the Lord had instructed him not to marry. His heart became divided and he was half-hearted in his worship to God.

You must follow steadfast after the Lord. Stick to His Word!

Scripture at Sunrise 7.6.2015

Sunday Evening | Pastor Steve Wainright | Solomon’s Building Program | 1 Kings 9:10-28
“And Hiram sent with the fleet his servants, seamen who were familiar with the sea, together with the servants of Solomon. And they went to Ophir and brought from there gold, 420 talents, and they brought it to King Solomon.” -1 Kings 9:27-28

Solomon had knowledge of the true and living God, but sent men out to acquire wealth instead of sharing this knowledge. God has not put us on the earth to gain wealth, but to spread the knowledge of the glory of God.

God has put you in the paths of different people–not to gain, but to give.

Scripture at Sunrise 5.18.2015

Sunday Evening | Pastor Steve Wainright | Solomon’s Wisdom: Not from Fish Heads | 1 Kings 3:16-4:34
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” -James 1:5-6

Ask for wisdom in faith. Don’t doubt. God will give it liberally.

Sunday Evening | Pastor Steve Wainright | Solomon’s Source of Wisdom | 1 Kings 3
At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, “Ask what I shall give you.” -1 Kings 3:5

God knew what Solomon needed before he even asked, but still wanted him to come to Him and ask. He desires for us to commune with Him.

Scripture at Sunrise 5.4.2015

Sunday Evening | Pastor Steve Wainright | David’s Last Words: A Charge to Solomon | 1 Kings 2
“Be strong, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in His ways and keeping His statutes, His commandments, His rules, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn…” -1 Kings 2:2-3

If you want the best for your life, keep the ways and the Word of the Lord.
