“Beloved, I urge you has sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.” -1 Peter 2:11
We need to worship because we are in spiritual warfare. Worship is a key to winning in spiritual warfare. If your focus is right, you’re going to win the battle. For us to get the victory, we must worship right. The battle we’re fighting is predominantly in our minds, heart, and will. You’re only ready for battle as you worship. -excerpts from Steve Wainright’s 9/19 Wednesday Evening Sermon on Worship (Listen here)

And David became greater and greater, for the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him. -2 Samuel 5:10
When God’s people surrender to God’s will, God will give great victory in their life.

For the Lord your God is He that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you. -Deuteronomy 20:4
We have no enemies but the enemies of God. Our fights are not against men but against spiritual wickednesses. We war with the devil and the blasphemy and error and despair which he brings into the field of battle. We fight with all the armies of sin — impurity, drunkenness, oppression, infidelity, and ungodliness. With these we contend earnestly, but not with sword or spear; the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.
Jehovah, our God, abhors everything which is evil, and, therefore, He goeth with us to fight for us in this crusade. He will save us, and He will give us grace to war a good warfare and win the victory. We may depend upon it that if we are on God’s side God is on our side. With such an august ally the conflict is never in the least degree doubtful. It is not that truth is mighty and must prevail but that might lies with the Father who is almighty, with Jesus who has all power in heaven and in earth, and with the Holy Spirit who worketh His will among men.
Soldiers of Christ, gird on your armor. Strike home in the name of the God of holiness, and by faith grasp His salvation. Let not this day pass without striking a blow for Jesus and holiness.
[from Faith’s Checkbook by Charles H. Spurgeon]
“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the mweapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” –excerpts from 2 Corinthians 10:1-5
In the midst of Paul defending his apostleship, he reminds the Corinthians that the battles he is facing are spiritual. (Ephesians 6:12; Philippians 2:25; 1 Timothy 6:12; 2 Timothy 2:3-4; 1 Thessalonians 5:8) Paul lets them know he is not fighting with fleshly weapons. His weapons are far greater because human weapons mean nothing in the spiritual realm.
The only weapon in the armor of God is the sword of the Spirit, His Word! Every false teaching and error will be triumphed by the truth of God. That is what changes hearts.
Truth will always prevail. Don’t ever be ashamed to proclaim the Word of God. It will crumble every error. Only the truth that will set people free.
“Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possess the land.” -Exodus 23:30
Isn’t it good to know that God works everything out for my good and His glory in His time. His ways are so much higher than our ways.
What is it that’s keeping you from TOTAL obedience in your life?
