Sunday Morning –  Have You Died to Sin?Romans 6:1-2 (Steve Wainright)
“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?” -Romans 6:1-2

Who God declares righteous, He also makes righteous. Is there evidence in your life of God creating holiness in you? Is there conviction when you do wrong and a desire to do right?

Scripture at Sunrise 3.29.2017

“Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more…” -Romans 5:20
The law was given that sin would increase–it magnified sin. But God’s grace is bigger than all of that sin! There is no sin that can stop the grace of God from working.
The law teaches us to flee to the cross of Christ and look to His finished work. Sin is measured by the law, but you can’t measure God’s grace.

Sunday Morning Sermon: A Deeper Look at the Cross | Romans 3:25 | Steve Wainright
“Whom God put forward as a propitiation by His blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over former sins.” -Romans 3:25

God the Father has set forth Jesus Christ to be a propitiation. Like the mercy seat on the ark of the covenant, Christ protects us from the wrath of God.

He is not here, but has risen. Remember how He told you, while He was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” And they remembered His words. -Luke 12:6-8

The angels put these ladies into remembrance by giving them the Word of God. Remember what He said. That’s how faith comes! Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Scripture at Sunrise 5.26.2014

Sunday Evening| Pastor Steve Wainright | 1 Samuel 24:1-22
May the LORD therefore be judge and give sentence between me and you, and see to it and plead my cause and deliver me from your hand.” -1 Samuel 24:15

How do you respond when someone has done you wrong? Here, David had a chance to take Saul’s life, but realized that would be taking matters into his own hands. David realized that God’s kingdom is GOD’s kingdom–he knew that God was in control and Saul’s life was not for him to take.

It is not our duty to take vengeance into our own hands. Do good to those who persecute you. Kill them with kindness. God has called us to be peacemakers and render good for evil.

Scripture at Sunrise 5.19.2014

Sunday Evening| Pastor Steve Wainright | 1 Samuel 23:14-29
And Jonathan, Saul’s son, rose and went to David at Horesh, and strengthened his hand in God. And he said to him, “Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you…” -1 Samuel 23:16-17

Jonathan strengthened David’s hand in God. How did he encourage him? He shared the promises of God with David. The Word of God endures and is tried and true. Your faith is strengthened when you are in the Word of God. “Faith comes by hearing–and hearing by the Word of God.”
