Scripture at Sunrise 06.02.2022

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. -2 Corinthians 12:9

“The only reason that we are ever scared of the will of God is because we cannot see the grace that will be there.” -Elisabeth Elliot (via Twitter)

Scripture at Sunrise 1.18.10

Morning Worship | Bro. Steve Dawson | “Taking the Mystery Out of Knowing God’s Will

1)You must be saved.
[Romans 8:8, John 6:35-40]
You cannot walk in His will without knowing Him as your Savior and Lord.

2)You must be Spirit-filled and Spirit-controlled.
[Ephesians 5:15-18]
The Word is inseparable from the Spirit.  Saturate your life with the Word.

3)You must be sanctified.
[1 Thessalonians 4:3-8, Deuteronomy 14:2]

4)You must be submissive.
[James 4:7, Ephesians 5:21-25]

5)You must suffer.
[2 Corinthians 12:7-10, Philippians 1:29, John 15:19, Revelation 6:9-11, Romans 8:36]

6)You must be thankful.
[1 Thessalonians 5:16, Psalm 37:1-5]
No matter what comes your way, you can be thankful because you can know He’s working for your good.

*If you’re doing these things, you are in the will of God.  He will take care of the rest!

Evening Worship | Bro. Jason Estes | Leviticus 16:1-34
*The book of Leviticus presents type after type of what would be accomplished through the redemptive work of Christ.
*Atonement=compensation for a wrong, reparation of a broken relationship…
*Day of Atonement=Yom Kippur (once a year), fulfilled in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 9-10)

1) vs. 1-2- Intro: Warning about the danger of approaching God inappropriately
2)vs. 3-5- What is necessary for the High Priest to enter (Animals and Special Clothing)
3)vs. 6-10-Summary of ceremonies necessary for people to worship God
4)vs. 11-34- Sprinkling of Blood Ritual (Hebrews 9:22), Scapegoat (Romans 3:25, Hebrews 10:4, 2 Corinthians 5:21), Cleansing, Perpetual Nature

*The finality of Jesus’ work made these rituals obsolete!  (Read Hebrews 9-10!)

A few things we see at the end of all this in Hebrews…
>Draw near to Him with assurance and boldness.
>Persevere.  Seek and hunger after His righteousness.
>Encourage each other to love and obedience.
>Don’t miss church.

Scripture at Sunrise 3.23.09

Sunday School by Steve Dawson
“For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach His statutes and rules in Israel.”  -Ezra 7:10

*Before the journey, Ezra prepared his heart.  *God always makes resources available to accomplish His will.  *Faithfulness to the Word of God is blessed.  *A love for the Word of God was passed on from generation to generation despite all that was going on.

Sunday Morning by Pastor Steve Wainright
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”  -Colossians 2:6-7

*received- embraced, accepted Him for all that He is
*Christ Jesus the Lord- Christ>Messiah, Promised One; Jesus>Humanity, God in the flesh; Lord>Sovereign, Master; Lordship Salvation=Savior AND King of my life
*walk in Him
*rooted- goes down, grips, brings forth certain things (Luke 8:1-15, 1 Peter 1:23); the deeper the roots go, the more solid the tree stands (Psalm 1; James 1:2); roots should go deep in Christ; Change will come, but the roots will never change.
*…as…, so walk…- received by faith, therefore walk by faith (Galatians 3)
*built up- continual (Philippians 1:6, Hebrews 13:5); He’s always building us up even if we do not realize it
*abounding in thanksgiving- abounding=superlative=MEGA!  Response to discouragement: thanksgiving (Psalm 119:81- strength and hope is in the the Word of God)

Sunday Evening by Pastor Steve Wainright
“Let my prayer be counted as incense before You, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!”  -Psalm 141:2
(Exodus 30)
Altar of Incense symbolized prayer.  Atonement had to be made.  Our prayers are cleansed through the blood of Jesus Christ.  So let us come boldly before the throne!
(There’s so much here, I’m having difficulty summarizing it.  Get a CD!  :))

Scripture @ Sunrise 2.16.09

It was another big day filled with reminders of the importance of Christ’s resurrection, preeminence and will for our lives!  Here’s a recap for you, which is by no means extensive!

Devotion Bro. Paul Johnson
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” –Ephesians 6:11
I always need to be reminded that I am in a spiritual battle.  I know that, but it is easy to forget it sometimes.

Sunday School Bro. Steve Dawson
“…Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”  –John 20:29
Such a great promise for us!  “What more can He say than to you He hath said?!”  This lesson was packed too full of nutrients for me to fully digest them all!

Sunday Morning Worship Pastor Steve Wainright
“And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”  –Colossians 1:17
Another nutrient-packed message!  Christ is preeminent in creation (vs. 16-17) and Christ is preeminent in redemption (vs. 18-20).  Is Jesus Christ preeminent in your life, your all in all?

Sunday Evening Worship Pastor Steve Wainright
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.”  -Psalm 32:8
I’m so glad God has given us His Word to help us discern His will, though it was interesting to hear about the urim and thummim!  Remember to read, study and obey His Word.  Then examine the desires and opportunities in your life along with your gifts and talents.  Pray and seek His face.  Trust in His providence.  Wait on the Lord until He gives directions.  (James 1:5, Psalm 27:14, Psalm 32:8)

And a sidenote, the kids did such a great job tonight singing “God is so Good!”  Their voice singing praises to the King were a blessing to listen to.  I hope you bring your kids next week to participate at 5:45 p.m.
