Scripture at Sunrise 2.19.2018

For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. For God has consigned all to disobedience, that He may have mercy on all.“-Romans 11:30-32
Of all the attributes of God, mercy is one of the crowning attributes. God uses even disobedience to display His mercy, whereby He gets all the more glory. Mercy requires sinfulness or shortcomings. We all stand in need of the mercy of God. If God were not merciful, none of us would be standing here today. –excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Sunday Morning Sermon

The Brevity of Jeroboam II

Scripture at Sunrise 2.12.2018

“For the gifts and the calling of God irrevocable.”-Romans 11:29

God cuts the new covenant and it is unconditional. If God does it, He keeps it. If we do it, we can break it. He has called us, predetermined our end, justified, and glorified us. How could you have a condition based on what God has already done? He would have to change His mind and the God we serve doesn’t change. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. –excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Sunday Morning Sermon

Too Big for Your Britches

Scripture (after) Sunrise 2.5.2018

But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. -Romans 11:17-20
Because of faith, we are grafted in, because of unbelief, some are cut off. If you are grafted in, don’t be full of pride–it’s all because of grace.  –excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Sunday Morning Sermon

The Shepherd leads the sheep, He doesn’t drive them. The Lord goes before us! The sheep trust the shepherd–He knows what’s best in your life.  –excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Sunday Evening Sermon

God’s Mercy Despite Our Sinfulness

Scripture at Sunrise 1.22.2018

“What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened, as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.” -Romans 11:7-8

The more you sin and reject Christ, the more insensitive you become to the Gospel. Your heart becomes hardened. The hardening is a judicial act of God.  –excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Sunday Morning Sermon

Scripture at Sunrise 1.15.2018

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful…” -2 Kings 12
The influence of a godly life is greater than you can see. God used Jehoiadah to impact a nation–Joash was a good king as long as he followed Jehoiadah’s wise counsel. It’s important to surround your life with godly people. – excerpt from Steve Wainright’s Wednesday Evening Sermon
